Works perfectly going from Dewalt hose to Dewalt hose. Or Ridgid hose to Dewalt hose. Also works going Ridgid to Ridgid but you’re better off using a Dewalt hose for your hose after the coupling. I like them and I’m buying more

I add these to all my shop vacs but not as a way to make them quiet. If you want a quiet vac then get a system where the motor and container are in a remote location. This one creates a good horizontal side-to-side diffusion of the exhaust air so that you don’t have dust getting kicked up from a single output blast of air. It may add some noise reduction, but it’s not detectable to me. And the back-pressure is minimal, which in turn keeps the vacuum level as high as possible.

I recently acquired a 4 gal. (9A) DeWalt vacuum and decided to make the 10 gal. (10A) stationary at the bench. The Universal 12" hose reaches everywhere I need and fits with all my original DeWalt accessories perfectly. There is no clip on the motor side but the hose fits quite snug with a slight twist while inserting. It has not come loose with suck or blow. This 1 7/8" design size does have issues fitting into the myriad of DeWalt exhaust orifices but this is hardly a problem of the well made hose. I have purchased different silicone inter-cooler reducers for the various exhaust ports to allow this hose to snugly slide into place regardless if the machine is a table saw or palm sander.
A good purchase at a reasonable price.
